International Committee
The purpose of the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø International Committee is to deliver the overall mission of the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø to provide the best care and achieve the best outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases in settings across the world. This strategy document details how the International Committee will act to co-ordinate professionals in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology community in the United Kingdom through defined initiatives to enable both the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø and its members to achieve this mission.

The ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø International Strategy provides members with an introduction from the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø President and Chair of the International Committee, a background of the committee, a summary of the strategic priorities for 2021-2024 including supporting education, training, and research, as well as service improvement, and two key case studies.

International MENA region - Colon cancer screening
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant public health issue, representing one of the greatest causes of both cancer diagnosis and mortality globally. While the incidence is highest in high-income countries, it is rising across the world, including in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø supported the MENA Dubai Conference 2026
The second MENA region Conference 2026 supported by the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø International Committee brought together UK and regional experts for three days of education in gastroenterology. With over 5,400 registrations, the event reached a broad multidisciplinary audience and received positive feedback on its speakers, clinical content and practical sessions, with strong interest in future meetings.
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø International Committee Grants Awards
The ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø wishes to continue to support international projects led by its members leading to a sustainable partnership or defined improvement in the following areas: leadership, service improvement, and educational initiatives. These should enhance knowledge or organisational development, with the overall goal of providing the best care and outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases in settings across the world.
